Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon
The whole of the UK is in ‘lockdown’ due to the COVID19 Virus, which has presented some difficult circumstances for many local families and businesses. The clubs committee have been having regular meetings via Zoom to look at ways to keep the club alive and everybody active. It is important that the whole club comes together to raise awareness and hopefully generate fund-raising opportunities from within the local community.
It is time to get all our members together (virtually) and complete our first monthly challenge. We want to create a new challenge each month to keep everyone in the club active (including mums, dads, siblings, grandparents & pets), lets enjoy this time, stay safe and have some fun!!
The ‘Escape From Alcatraz’ Triathlon is a real event which takes place in San Francisco in June of each year. So, lets escape the lockdown and smash this first challenge. Unfortunately, we will not be able to complete the swimming section, so we have adapted this for you. This is a tough challenge to do alone so we want you to get together in teams of 3 and complete the following between you:
1.5mile Walk - (0.5miles each)
18-mile Cycling - (6 miles each)
9-mile Run - (3 miles each)
If you want to take part send over your teams to Joanne Binks and if you don’t have a team, don’t worry we will put one together for you (nobody will be left out)
Next year will be the 145th birthday for the club so let us do what we can for the remainder of 2020 to stick together and show the community just how important TSWPC is.
We have also set up a GoFundMe page to raise money so that we have extra funds for Pool time, swim clinics and support with new kit and equipment ready for 2020/2021.
We would love you to share the link provided below:
Good luck to all teams, we will be posting lots of pictures of your progress on our social media sites
